The itummy Story
In 2008 we were expecting our first beautiful baby. We were overjoyed with the thought of being new parents. We feel that it is the greatest gift we could give one another. How the itummy all started is during a typical doctor’s appointment, we were informed that our baby was in a breech position. Not the most optimal birthing position, the doctor had recommended that we play music for the baby by putting speakers down at the bottom of my tummy. The baby would supposedly follow the music and turn head down to the proper position.
We thought this sounded a little ridiculous but followed the recommendation anyway. During our next visit, we were surprised to find out that the baby had in fact turned head down and was fully engaged for birthing. We would have never guessed that something so simple as playing music would have such a profound effect. We were completely amazed! This prompted us to investigate what other benefits music would have on babies in the womb.
As it turns out, the benefits are numerous and include: brain stimulation, relaxation, sound associations, and for us, visible reactions that we can attribute to different types of music & sounds.
